Michael “Mike” Dorman is one of the unsung heroes in our industry. He is the video engineer that because of him we have endless hours of quality programming. Mike Dorman is has been serving the television industry for 46 years as Chief Video/Broadcast – Maintenance Engineer. He began his career at WICS-TV in 1952 as a Staff TV Engineer. He is Chief Video Engineer for Charter Communications – Saint Louis. His duties include setting up and maintaining all Charter TV Studio, Access Studios, Master Control, and Local Origination areas in Missouri and Illinois. This talented engineer is highly respected by his peers and is a Senior Member with Professional Broadcast TV Certification of the SBE, and a member of SCTE with Broadband Certification.

Mike Dorman uses his talents to give back to the local community. In 1986, he orchestrated and managed all of the technical logistics to successfully produce a live local telecast/telethon. “Comic Relief-St. Louis.” This monumental event included multiple sets and locations, live remote fees and uniting all of the four local cable systems, which was a first for local cable television. This community event, not only raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Health Care For The Homeless Coalition, it also earned Dorman and his team an Emmy Award and a Cable ACE Award. Mike is a strong believer in supporting education and works closely with the Pattonville School District. He is responsible for building their television studio in 1989. Today he continues to serve as the school district’s television studio location engineer where he installs upgrades and maintains all of the studio’s equipment.
