Time on Board: ’15–‘17
Ernie has been in news for more than twenty years. He started his career in his home state of California working in radio and at a local cable news station. He spent his first sixteen years in front of the camera working as a reporter and anchor at KMIR-TV, KARK-TV, and KFOR-TV. In 2009, he moved to the management side of things taking an Assistant News Director position at KNWA/KFTA-TV in Fayetteville, Arkansas. During his time there, the station was able to bring home an Emmy for “Best Newscast.” In 2012, Ernie kept his “AND” title but moved back into his old newsroom in Little Rock where he helps oversee the daily operations of KARK 4 and FOX 16 (#Team 20). Given his background, he works a lot with photographers, reporters and anchors to try to teach and preserve the craft of good storytelling.
Ernie grew up in southern California and received a B.A. from California State University at Long Beach where he majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Creative Writing. He now lives in Little Rock with his wife Tracee and their two children. Most of his time outside of work is spent cheering on Griffin and Evan Claire as they compete in activities like soccer, basketball, and gymnastics (just to name a few). He also enjoys rooting on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Go Hogs!
