Cheryl K. McDonald


Cheryl Kerns McDonald was named Vice President and General Manager of Fox owned-and-operated WDAF FOX 4 Kansas City on August 13, 2002. As General Manager, she is responsible for overseeing all business and administrative duties at the station. Cheryl formerly served as General Sales Manager at WDAF from January of 1990 and was named Vice President in 1992. Cheryl began her sales career in 1978 at WTAJ TV (a CBS affiliate) in Altoona, Pa. where she started in retail planning and sales. Several months later, she was promoted to Account Executive, at a time when few women worked in sales. She moved in 1980 to WTTG in Washington D.C., as a Sales trainee, and then later moved to WDCA in Washington D.C., as an Account Executive.

In 1983, Cheryl was elevated to Local Sales Manager at WDCA, Later she was transferred by their corporate owner, Taft Broadcasting, to WDAF in Kansas City where she worked in the same capacity before being promoted to General Sales Manager. In November 1988, she moved to Dallas and served as General Manager of the Dallas/Fort Worth Cable Interconnect before returning to WDAF in 1990 as General Sales Manager. Cheryl is married to News Consultant and former News Director of WDAF TV4 Mike McDonald. She is active in the community serving on the board of St. Luke’s Hospital and is a member of Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral. Additionally, she is an active supporter of the FOX 4 Love Fund for Children.
