Mike Bush

For more than 38 years in our industry, and more than a quarter-century in St. Louis, Mike Bush has given every assignment his all! Whether it’s been as a reporter, sports director, or evening anchor – he has truly made a difference in journalism and in this community. Mike Bush is one of those anchors who best exemplifies, on a daily basis, what journalism is about. His vision and leadership goes far beyond his role on-air. When Mike heard feedback from the St. Louis community about news always being negative – Well, he has led the way for balance, making sure ‘positive’ news stories were well represented. His ‘Making a Difference’ franchise is known for quality storytelling and has become appointment television. His stories focus on the heroes in our community and last year was recognized with Regional Emmys and Edward R. Murrow Awards.

Mike is an icon here in St. Louis, particularly when it comes to his community and those in need. He has taken the lead on the MDA Telethon since 1987 – personally knowing the individuals and families involved. Mike has helped raise more than $30 million dollars for muscular dystrophy. Even with the challenge of not having a traditional telethon format in 2011, Mike and his team raised a record amount, surpassing the $2 million mark! But it’s not all about the money – Mike spends a great deal of his own time visiting muscular dystrophy patients when they’re in the hospital, and also volunteering at the MDA summer camps.
