Award winning and talented Photojournalist Mike Spissinger, affectionately referred to as Spiss, currently serves as Chief Photojournalist at WPSD Local 6 in Paducah, Kentucky. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Spissinger grew up a fan of Cardinals baseball, Cardinals football and television news. Names like Lou Brock, Ted Simmons and Bob Gibson go hand-in-hand with Chris Condon, Ollie Raymond, Julius Hunter and Diane White. A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Spissinger initially focused on print journalism in college but fell in love with news during a television class. While completing his degree he was hired on part-time with KFVS-TV as a teleprompter operator. In 1984, Spissinger accepted a fulltime position with WPSD Local 6 in Paducah, Kentucky and has called the station home ever since. Over the years, Spissinger has been recognized as one of the best in the business. He’s won numerous awards from the Kentucky Associated Press and the Kentucky News Photographers Association. “I like winning the Station of the Year awards, because it includes all the photogs,” Spissinger added.
