Cailey Taylor

Taylor, CaileyCailey Taylor hopes to leverage her passion for storytelling into a Producer or Director role with a station or company that fosters a creative and challenging newsroom environment.

Cailey has been an anchor, writer, and reporter for the KUJH news cast team at the University of Kansas where she has helped with the coverage for President Obama’s visit, produced daily newscasts, and the Student Senate elections. She received the John Katich Award for outstanding broadcast journalism at Kansas this year

In addition to her studies, Cailey has completed internships with multiple companies including the WIBW Station in Topeka, Kansas, and Blink Films, a documentary production agency in London.

Receiving the Walter Cronkite Scholarship is a wonderful blessing for Cailey as she is self-supporting her way through college. She currently balances a part time job, is a full time student, and spends her time as a “BIG” in the Douglas County Big Brothers/Big Sisters mentoring program.

Cailey is dual majoring in Journalism and Political Science with a minor in Global and International Studies, and will graduate in May 2016. She credits her college mentors, Brett Akagi and Chris Bacon, who inspired and drove her to develop further as a journalist.
