Harrison Drake loves the challenge and excitement of working in TV news, even on a college level, so much that he changed his major. Currently, he is a senior at the University of Kansas, majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in film & media studies. For the past two years, Harrison has actively participated in reporting news stories for the award winning college station, KUJH-TV. Additionally, he has worked as a correspondent for the student newspaper, University Daily Kansan.
One of his biggest highlights working in student media was covering President Obama’s visit to KU in Spring 2015. The team produced a 20-minute special on the visit and Harrison was honored to be part of it. All the experiences at KUJH-TV have helped him learn, grow and persevere over the challenges of broadcast journalism.
Harrison is excited for his future after graduation and has already set his path. He has been working part-time at KSNT-TV in Topeka, Kansas as a photographer and editor. He cannot wait to jump full-time into an industry that provides a challenge and excitement every day.
