Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid/Remote with some travel required)

About NATAS Mid-America

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Mid-America Chapter is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to recognizing excellence in television and visual media, fostering professional development, and supporting the next generation of media professionals across the region. The chapter serves broadcasters, journalists, educators, and visual content creators through regional Emmy® Awards competitions, student engagement, and scholarships.

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the operational leader of the NATAS Mid-America Chapter. This individual is responsible for strategic leadership, financial oversight, membership engagement, awards administration, and external relations. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director ensures the chapter’s mission, programs, and operations are executed with excellence, integrity, and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to implement the chapter’s strategic vision and annual goals
  • Serve as the primary advisor to the board and support board committees and initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with NATAS national guidelines, local bylaws, and nonprofit best practices

Operations and Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the chapter, ensuring policies, procedures, and timelines are met
  • Work with vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping, reporting with administrative efficiency

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the chapter’s annual budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer
  • Monitor revenues and expenses, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency
  • Oversee financial reporting, audits, tax filings, and required compliance documentation and deadlines

Awards and Programs

  • Direct all aspects of the Mid-American Regional Emmy® Awards competitions, including entry processes, judging, events, and compliance
  • Oversee student awards, scholarships, and educational initiatives
  • Ensure programs are executed professionally and reflect the prestige of NATAS Mid-America

Membership and Engagement

  • Lead membership growth, retention and engagement strategies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members, volunteers, and stakeholders
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative and mission-driven chapter culture

Communications and External Relations

  • Represent the chapter publicly with media organizations, educational institutions, sponsors, and partners
  • Oversee chapter communications, including website content, email communications, and social media
  • Support sponsorship development and community partnerships

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Leadership experience in nonprofit management, media organizations, associations, or related fields
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong tech skills, including ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Zoom, etc.
  • Ability to post on chapter website and be active on social media to engage with chapter members
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with accuracy and professionalism
  • Willingness to travel within the Mid-America region and occasionally outside of the region
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

Preferred

  • Ability to begin full-time work/training with outgoing Executive Director on June 1, 2026
  • Experience working with boards of directors
  • Familiarity with television, journalism, digital media, and awards programs
  • Event management and sponsorship experience
