The Walter Cronkite Scholarship is open to broadcast journalism applicants. College undergraduates, as well as high school seniors in a school in the Mid-America region who have an interest in media studies and have been accepted at a college as a media, journalism, or mass communication major are eligible to apply.
This one-time scholarship honors Michael Hardgrove's contributions to our industry and to our chapter. Mike served as president of KETC, now Nine PBS, St. Louis' public television station for nearly 25 years until his retirement in 2002. During that time, he had served as the Mid-America Chapter's president and trustee and often contributed his station's resources in support of our activities and operations. Mike passed away this past December at the age of 85. The scholarship is funded in part by a contribution by Nine PBS in his memory.
The Creative Arts Scholarship is for those pursuing TV careers outside the newsroom. College undergraduates, as well as high school seniors in a school in the Mid-America region who have an interest in media studies and have been accepted at a college as a media, journalism, or mass communication major are eligible to apply.
